Brian, Ron Gilbert is one of the creators of Monkey Island. I think you got him mixed up with fellow Monkey alum Tim Schafer, who went on to do Grim Fandango, Psychonauts, and some game about Jack Black.

Also, I love a guest host who can appreciate Shattered Memories. Mega-rock, Imran.

Good call, Patrick! Yeah, Imran's a classy gent to be sure.

On a related note, I should really get Shattered Memories. I hear the story is subtle, yet somewhat mindblowing when you find out what the game is 'really' about.

No worries, mang!

I am really glad you brought up Deathspank, though. It seemed like most of the coverage out there boiled down to "funny Diablo clone by Ron Gilbert," so it was awesome to hear some analysis about what it's ACTUALLY like. Think I may grab it sometime!

Oh, definitely!

It's the rare re-imagining that actually does justice to its source material, so it's a real treat for Silent Hill fans. But it's pitched perfectly to newcomers too, and as you say, the story and atmosphere are top notch. Lots of nuance and attention to detail throughout the whole experience.

Word of warning: the action sequences suck a bit. Nice idea, but not the greatest execution. It's easily forgivable, though, since SM is essentially an adventure game at heart.

And the kicker is that it's short enough that you'll be able to finish it! You know, when you're taking breaks from STARCRAFT STARCRAFT STARCRAFT
