Galactic Civilizations II: Ultimate For $10?!

So many gams, so little time

Hey there, loyal Nitrobearders, have I got a treat for you! I don't know if they're eating new cereals in the morning, or going through some sort of mental breakdown, but I'm here to tell you that Stardock has officially lost their minds, and it would behoove you to take advantage of their Spring Sale.

I'm a  huge fan of Sins of a Solar Empire, so if you haven't jumped on the hybrid 4X/RTS bandwagon yet, now's a perfect time to do so. At half off, you really can't go wrong. However, my love of Sins aside, this post is to pimp out Galactic Civilizations 2: Ultimate Edition, which is 75% off. I won't lie, my time with the GalCiv franchise has been limited, as I first played the original way back in 2003. This was my 'JRPG' phase, and if it didn't say Final, Fantasy, or promote the glorious Nippon, I wanted none of it. I now sigh in shame knowing the disservice I did to myself.

My recent addiction to Civilization IV (moreso the Beyond The Sword expansion) has given me a new lease on gaming life, as it were. The fun of commanding a nation of people, manipulating trade agreements, treaties, creating religious anarchy, and backstabbing allies never gets old, and the fact that Galactic Civilizations does this innnn spacccceeee makes it all the cooler. What all comes with the Ultimate Edition, though? Why is this set worth your tenner?

Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords

GalCiv 2 features all of the accessibility and addiction of the higher profile Civ IV, but it also boasts an arguably superior A.I. and a killer theme. Even non-fans would be well served to check this title out—it’s that good. -eToyChest, 97% rating

Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar

Dark Avatar is a great expansion to a fantastic franchise. This is the highest score I’ve given, and Dark Avatar earns every point. This is 4X strategy at its finest. -Gaming Nexus, 97%rating

Galactic Civilization II: Twilight of the Arnor

The technology trees alone make it impossible for someone who's sampled Twilight of the Arnor to ever go back to just playing Dark Avatar. Add to that impressive customization tools, new gameplay dynamics, better AI, graphic upgrades, new ship-builder components and completely re-done flavor text and hundreds and hundreds of smaller tweaks, fixes and changes and what you have is an absolute triumph and a new standard for turn-based-strategy games. -Gamespy, 100% rating

Well, what are you waiting for? The sale ends on Memorial Day, so be quick! In the wise, wise words of the Sugarhill Gang, jump on it! See you, Space Cowboy!
